Prathyusha Engineering College, Chennai popularly known as PEC is the brain child of the well known industrialist and philanthropist Shri. P. Raja Rao, the founder Chairman of the Governing Board of the College. PEC is a self-financed Telugu Minority Institution approved by AICTE, affiliated to Anna University, accredited by NBA and a recipient of ISO certification. The college offers 7 UG courses and 7 PG Courses with an annual intake of 1068 students. The over all students strength of the college is 3000.

PEC is located just 30 KMs away from Chennai Central Station on the Poonamalle - Tiruvallur road at a hamlet called Aranvoyalkuppam in spacious serene and invigorating surroundings, far from the maddening crowd and the hustle and bustle of the urban locale. The lush green campus provides an ideal and congenial atmosphere to pursue education without any external distractions like noise, sound and air pollution. PEC's well planned and aesthetically designed eco-friendly campus is spread over 45 acres of land and has more than 4,00,000 Sq. ft. of built-in area.The campus has ultra modern but environmental friendly facilities and landscaped garden.

About Department of Biotechnology

The Department of Biotechnology of the institution was started in 2001 and is offering B.Tech (Biotechnology) programme since 2002. The department has the objective to impart quality technical education and training in the broader area of Biotechnology to the aspiring students and make them employable by imparting skill sets required by the industry. The department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and has nearly 240 students and 12 faculties. The department has approved by AICTE (732-52-394 (EYET/2001) dt: 30.08.2001) and permanently affiliated with Anna university (Lr.N:467/CAI/Permanent Affln./2014-15 dt. 18.11.14).

 

In response to rapidly changing technological scenario globally and rapid advances being need in applied area such as biotechnology, B.Tech-Biotechnology programme is designed to prepare students for successful professional carriers in this cutting edge area. This is a challenging task as it involves teaching diversifying subject in both biology and engineering. Interdisciplinary education, numerous undergraduate research opportunities and strong alliances with the industry offering internship and co-ops constitute an integrated approach to our undergraduate education.
